Turn the hassle of setup into time spent with nature.
From camping spent staking pegs and setting up poles, to a freer journey. The 2-person roof tent "Crow's Nest" from New Zealand-based Feldon Shelter is one piece of equipment that makes this wish a reality.
With a simple action of pulling a zipper and extending a ladder, in just a few minutes, a private base detached from the ground unfolds on top of your car. By minimizing the effort required for setup, it highlights the free time that should naturally be there.
What to choose, and what to leave out. The rational choice of a roof tent quietly changes the quality of outdoor play.
The Crow's Nest Extended Tent includes all the features/equipment of the Crow's Nest Regular Tent, plus unique features and cutting-edge materials.
Features of the Crow's Nest Extended (2-person rooftop tent):
- The tent extension and rainfly cover the ladder entry point and can be used as a shelter. The tent extension also has windows and openings (mesh) to enjoy panoramic views of nature.
- Feldon Shelter's original windows not only offer 360-degree panoramic views but are also aerodynamically designed for excellent safety in strong winds.
- Feldon Shelter's original honeycomb cell structure achieves approximately 3 times the strength of general rooftop tents, offering superior impact resistance.
- Feldon Shelter's original durable storage space (net-type) in the base provides an ideal spare space for drying wet camping gear.
- Feldon Shelter's original dome-shaped roof design ensures ample headroom inside the tent compared to typical rooftop tents. It prevents rainwater from accumulating on the roof and is also aerodynamically designed for excellent wind resistance.
- Feldon Shelter's original storage pockets for shoes and small items (equipped in the base) are convenient as spare space. They protect dirty shoes from wind and rain. The bottom of these storage pockets has a ventilating design, making them ideal for drying wet shoes.
- Feldon Shelter's original pocket-storable spring poles (equipped in the base) make access even easier. Now you don't have to worry about forgetting the spring poles.
- Durable PVC travel cover. Areas requiring high durability are reinforced with 3-layer panels. Features Feldon Shelter's original roll-up storage system.
- All internal tent frame parts are made of aluminum, and hinges and fixtures use marine-grade stainless steel for long durability and superior strength. No plastic is used.
- Larger hinges compared to typical rooftop tents allow mattresses and pillows to be stored inside the tent while driving.
- Internal storage pockets for small items like snacks, phones, and flashlights.
- Easy-to-use hand tools and mounting hardware make installation/removal and transfer to another car simple.
- High-density foam ErgoCell mattress (60mm thick). Removable 100% cotton mattress cover, with a waterproof polyester ripstop fabric on the bottom, and waterproof treatment on the corners to prevent moisture from condensation. Comfortable for tall individuals (approx. 2m).
- Adjustable retractable stainless steel ladder. An extended ladder for large vehicles is also available as an option. - Uses durable YKK zippers.
- Uses New Zealand marine-grade 316 stainless steel eyelets.
- Secure cable connection from the car with a high-seal power outlet using Velcro.
- Insect mesh equipped on windows, doors, and vents.
- Insect mesh on windows and doors can be opened and closed with zippers.
- High-strength 40mm straps (with Velcro and marine-grade stainless steel D-rings). - Spare fabric bag (convenient for repairing tents, rainflies, and mesh)
NEW ZEALAND
Camping in the pristine nature of New Zealand, honestly, has its challenging aspects (which can also be an advantage when designing/developing tents). New Zealand is often described as having "four seasons in one day." With its long, narrow north-south landmass, neighboring countries refer to it as one of the most climatically diverse countries in the world. This country, with its full range of weather conditions, is indeed ideal for rooftop tent development.
Strong sunlight, wind, snow, and heavy rain. The rooftop tents that Feldon Shelter has developed over many years at its factory in New Zealand not only boast durability against the worst weather conditions but also offer a solution that allows everyone to easily enjoy the outdoors.
Feldon Shelter's unique dome-shaped roof prevents water from accumulating on the roof and prevents leaks from the roof. The curve of the roof also provides excellent aerodynamics and high wind resistance.
Special attention has been paid to waterproofing to ensure comfort inside the tent, with special waterproofing treatment applied to the canvas and taped seams using waxed thread to achieve higher sealing performance.
Considering New Zealand's strong sunlight, the Crow's Nest tent uses a polyester/cotton blend ripstop fabric, making it a product with excellent UV resistance and durability. Reinforced double stitching and sturdy YKK zippers are used throughout the product, and an aluminum reinforced frame and marine-grade stainless steel fittings ensure high durability over a long period.
This top-quality rooftop tent on the market is equipped with carefully selected, state-of-the-art safety features. Ample storage space is ensured with storage pockets (for shoes and small items) at the base of the tent, storage straps on the ceiling, and convenient internal storage pockets. Lightweight retractable stainless steel ladders, easy-to-use hand tools with one-touch operation, and excellent ventilation functions allow for comfortable camping and full enjoyment of adventure.
Feldon Shelter's independently developed queen-size high-density foam ErgoCell mattress (60mm thick) is large enough for two adults to rest comfortably. Even very tall individuals will find ample comfortable space. The bottom, sides, and corners of the mattress are excellently waterproofed. Rest soundly on a soft and comfortable bed and relieve the fatigue of the day's journey. You will no longer suffer from sleep deprivation caused by bumpy ground or rocks.
Installation Method and Details
It can be installed on any vehicle, from small 2-door hatchbacks to robust large trucks. While the tent installation itself is very simple, careful consideration must be given to which side the tent will open. The rear, side, or front of the vehicle can be used as the tent entrance. Once that is decided, all that is needed is a roof rack (or carrier) with a dynamic load capacity of 75kg or more.
However, if the vehicle height is high (height from the road surface to the top of the roof rack is 2m or more), a separate extension ladder will be required.
The maximum load capacity of the Crow's Nest rooftop tent is 300kg. Product Specifications

※ The 2022 model underwent minor updates, resulting in a 5kg weight reduction, a change to X-canvas fabric, and further strengthening of the frame rigidity.

A pro explains the "real story" of load capacity and how to choose
For those considering the Crow's Nest Extended
Q. Who is the Crow's Nest Extended suitable for?
A. It is suitable for those who prioritize ease of entry/exit in rain or snow, ample space around the entrance, and creating a comfortable space under the tent. While the sleeping area size is similar to a regular double bed, the extended rear rain cover provides more room for shoes and luggage, easier entry/exit, and more flexibility for spending time under the tent.
Q. What are the differences between the Regular and Extended models?
A. The Regular model is simple and easy to use, designed to be used without needing to stake it down. The Extended model has a rear extension that serves as a rain cover, allowing it to cover the entrance area. The Extended model offers benefits for those who want easy entry/exit in rain or snow, a temporary place for wet shoes and small items, or wish to combine lights and gear under the tent.
Q. Does the Extended model require staking down?
A. The Extended model may require staking down depending on the situation, to properly pitch the extended rain cover. For windy days or if you want to set up the rain cover neatly, it's safer to assume staking down will be necessary.
Q. What are the advantages of choosing the Extended model?
A. The main advantage is the usability of the entrance area. When entering or exiting in the rain, when temporarily placing shoes or small items, or when wanting to combine lights and gear under the tent, the rear rain cover provides more flexibility for how you spend your time. It is suitable for those who want to enjoy the time after arriving at the campsite not just for sleeping, but as a living space around their vehicle.
Q. How does it differ from the Family size?
A. The Extended model is designed for two adults, similar to a double bed, with the addition of a rain cover around the entrance. The Family model is a king-size class model that prioritizes interior space, suitable for family use or those who prioritize spaciousness.
Q. Is weight a concern?
A. Yes, it is. The Crow's Nest Extended weighs approximately 60kg, so please be sure to check the vehicle manufacturer's official roof load capacity, rack weight, and tent body weight. It's important to consider not only the rack but also whether the vehicle can safely support it while driving.
Q. What kind of rack is needed for installation?
A. A crossbar, roof rack, or flat rack suitable for your vehicle is required. Please check not only the load capacity of the rack but also the vehicle manufacturer's official load capacity. The position of the bars and the direction in which the tent opens can affect usability.
Q. How should I handle it during rainy or humid seasons?
A. It is important not to leave it closed for extended periods when wet after use. After rain or during humid periods, open it on a sunny day to air it out and ensure it dries thoroughly.
Q. What if I'm not sure if it fits my car?
A. Knowing your car's make, model year, grade, whether it has roof rails, the planned rack installation, and the height of your usual parking space will help in checking. If you have any concerns, please consult us before purchasing.
