Turn the hassle of setup into time spent with nature.

Break free from camping where you're constantly pegging and setting up poles. The Crow's Nest, a two-person roof tent from New Zealand-based Feldon Shelter, is one piece of equipment that makes this dream a reality.

In just a few minutes, with the simple action of pulling a zipper and extending a ladder, a private base detached from the ground unfolds on top of your car. By minimizing the effort required for setup, it highlights the free time that should naturally be there.

What to choose, and what to eliminate. The rational choice of a roof tent quietly transforms the quality of outdoor play.

NEW ZEALAND

Camping in New Zealand, with its untouched natural beauty, is not without its challenges (which, incidentally, can be advantageous for tent design and development). New Zealand is often described as having "four seasons in one day." With its long, narrow shape, neighboring countries often call it the nation with the most diverse weather conditions in the world. This country, with its full range of weather conditions, is truly ideal for the development of rooftop tents.

Strong sunshine, wind, snow, and heavy rain. The rooftop tents that Feldon Shelter has developed over many years at its own factory in New Zealand not only boast durability against the worst weather conditions but also offer a solution that allows anyone to easily enjoy the outdoors.

Feldon Shelter's unique dome-shaped roof prevents water from accumulating on the roof and prevents leaks from the roof. The curve of the roof is also excellent in terms of aerodynamics and boasts high wind resistance.

Particular attention has been paid to waterproofing to ensure comfort inside the tent, with special waterproof treatment applied to the canvas and taped seams using waxed thread for higher sealing performance.

Additionally, considering New Zealand's strong sunlight, the Crow's Nest tent uses a ripstop fabric made of a polyester/cotton blend, making it highly UV resistant and durable. Reinforced double stitching and robust YKK zippers are used throughout the product, along with an aluminum reinforced frame and marine-grade stainless steel hardware, ensuring high durability over a long period.

This market-leading, high-quality rooftop tent is equipped with carefully selected, cutting-edge safety features. Ample storage space is ensured with storage pockets (for shoes and small items) at the base of the tent, ceiling storage straps, and convenient internal storage pockets. A lightweight, retractable stainless steel ladder, easy one-touch hand tool, and ample ventilation functions allow for comfortable camping and full enjoyment of adventures.

Feldon Shelter's uniquely developed queen-sized, high-density foam ErgoCell mattress (60mm thick) is large enough for two adults to rest comfortably. Even very tall individuals will have plenty of comfortable space.

The bottom, sides, and corners of the mattress are excellently waterproofed. Rest soundly on the soft, comfortable bed and relieve the fatigue of your day's journey. You'll completely overcome the sleep deprivation caused by uneven ground or rocks.

Installation Method and Details

It can be installed on any vehicle, from small 2-door hatchbacks to robust large trucks. While installing the tent itself is very easy, it is important to carefully consider which side the tent will open. The tent entrance can be at the rear, side, or front of the vehicle. Once that is decided, all that is needed is a roof rack (or carrier) with a dynamic load capacity of 75kg or more.

However, for vehicles with a high roof (where the height from the road surface to the top of the roof rack is 2m or more), a separate extension ladder is required.

The maximum load capacity of the Crow's Nest rooftop tent is 300kg. Features of the CROW'S NEST tent

For those considering the Crow's Nest Regular

Q. Who is the Crow's Nest Regular suitable for?
A. It is suitable for those considering a roof tent for the first time, or those who want a balance of size, weight, price, and ease of use. It is a lightweight soft-shell type weighing approximately 54kg, making it an easy-to-consider standard model.

Q. What are the advantages of choosing the Regular?
A. Its lightness, ease of handling, and convenience without the need for pegging down. Since there's no need to set up an extended rain fly, it's less affected by ground conditions and is highly convenient not only for campsites but also for hard ground locations and short stays.

Q. What is the difference between Regular and Extend?
A. The sleeping area size for both is comfortable for two adults, similar to a double bed. The main difference is the extended area around the entrance. The Regular is simple and easy to handle, designed to be used without pegging down. The Extend has a long rain fly at the rear, making it easier to manage entry and exit in rain or snow, shoe and luggage storage, and creating space under the tent.

Q. When is it better to choose the Extend?
A. If you prioritize entry and exit in rain or snow, extra space around the entrance, and creating space under the tent, the Extend is more suitable. Because it has a long rain fly at the rear, it offers advantages for those who want to easily handle wet shoes, small items, and camping gear. However, pegging down may be necessary in some situations to properly secure the extended portion.

Q. What is the difference from the Family size?
A. The Family model prioritizes even more space than the Regular or Extend. While the Regular/Extend offers a double bed-like feel, the Family is for those seeking king-size spaciousness. If you want to use it with your family or desire significantly more interior space, the Family is also an option.

Q. Is it suitable for kei cars and small cars?
A. It depends on the vehicle model and rack conditions, but there are cases where it's easier to consider than a hard-shell type. However, always check the vehicle manufacturer's official roof load capacity, rack weight, and tent body weight. Do not judge solely by visual examples; it's important to ensure the vehicle can safely support it while driving.

Q. What kind of rack is needed for installation?
A. A crossbar, roof rack, or flat rack that matches your vehicle is required. In addition to the rack's load capacity, please also check the vehicle manufacturer's official load capacity. The bar position and the direction the tent opens will also affect usability.

Q. How should I handle it during rainy days or the rainy season?
A. It's important not to leave it closed for extended periods if it's wet after use. After rain or during humid seasons, open it on a sunny day to air it out and ensure it's completely dry.

Q. What if I don't know if it will fit my car?
A. Knowing your vehicle's make, model year, trim level, whether it has roof rails, the intended rack, and the height of your usual parking space will help in checking. If you are unsure, please consult us before purchasing.
