Turn the hassle of setting up into time spent with nature.
From camping bogged down with pegging and pole setup, to a freer journey. The 2-person roof tent "Crow's Nest" from Feldon Shelter, New Zealand, is one piece of equipment that makes this wish a reality.
With a simple action of unzipping and extending the ladder, in just a few minutes, a private base detached from the ground unfolds on top of your car. By minimizing the effort required for setup, it highlights the free time that should naturally be there.
What to choose, and what to eliminate. The rational choice of a roof tent quietly transforms the quality of outdoor play.
NEW ZEALAND
Camping in New Zealand, where untouched nature remains, can be quite challenging (which, incidentally, is a good condition for designing and developing tents). New Zealand is often described as having "four seasons in a day." With its long, narrow landmass, neighboring countries call it one of the most climatically diverse countries in the world. This country, with its full range of weather conditions, is truly ideal for developing rooftop tents.
Strong sunlight, wind, snow, and heavy rain. The rooftop tents that Feldon Shelter has developed over many years at its own factory based in New Zealand not only boast durability against the worst weather conditions but also offer a solution that allows anyone to easily enjoy the outdoors.
Feldon Shelter's unique dome-shaped roof prevents water from accumulating on the roof and prevents leaks from the roof. The curve of the roof is also excellent in terms of aerodynamics, boasting high wind resistance.
To ensure comfort inside the tent, meticulous attention has been paid to waterproofing; the canvas is specially waterproofed, and seams sewn with waxed thread are taped for superior sealing.
Also, considering the strong New Zealand sun, the Crow's Nest tent uses ripstop fabric made from a polyester/cotton blend, making it a product with excellent UV resistance and durability. Reinforced double stitching and sturdy YKK zippers are used throughout the product, and an aluminum reinforced frame and marine-grade stainless steel hardware ensure high durability over a long period.
This top-quality rooftop tent on the market is equipped with carefully selected, state-of-the-art safety features. Ample storage space is provided, including storage pockets at the base of the tent (for shoes and small items), ceiling storage straps, and convenient internal storage pockets. A lightweight retractable stainless steel ladder, easy-to-use one-touch hand tools, and excellent ventilation ensure comfortable camping and full enjoyment of adventures.
Feldon Shelter's uniquely developed queen-size high-density foam ErgoCell mattress (60mm thick) is large enough for two adults to rest comfortably. Even very tall individuals will have ample comfortable space.
The bottom, sides, and corners of the mattress are excellently waterproofed. Rest soundly on a soft, comfortable bed and relieve the fatigue of your day's journey. Say goodbye to sleep deprivation caused by bumpy ground or rocks.
Installation Method and Details
It can be installed on any vehicle, from small 2-door hatchbacks to robust large trucks. While the tent installation itself is very easy, it is important to carefully consider which side the tent should open on. The rear, side, or front of the vehicle can be used as the tent's entrance. Once that is decided, all that is needed is a roof rack (or carrier) with a dynamic load capacity of 75kg or more.
However, for vehicles with a high roof (where the height from the road surface to the top of the roof rack is 2m or more), an extension ladder is required separately.
The maximum load capacity of the Crow's Nest rooftop tent is 300kg. CROW'S NEST Tent Features

The "real story" of load capacity and how to choose, from a professional
For those considering the Crow's Nest Regular
Q. Who is the Crow's Nest Regular suitable for?
A. It is suitable for those considering a roof tent for the first time, or those who want to balance size, weight, price, and ease of use. It is a lightweight soft shell type weighing approximately 54kg, making it an easy-to-consider standard model.
Q. What are the advantages of choosing the Regular?
A. Its lightness, ease of handling, and the convenience of not requiring pegging down. Since there's no need to pitch an extended rainfly, it's less affected by ground conditions, making it easy to use not only at campsites but also on hard ground or for short stays, which is a major advantage.
Q. What is the difference between Regular and Extend?
A. The sleeping area size for both is comfortable for two adults, similar to a double bed. The main difference is the extended area around the entrance. The Regular is simple and easy to handle, with a configuration that doesn't require pegging down. The Extend has a long rainfly at the back, making it easy to consider entry and exit on rainy or snowy days, a place for shoes and luggage, and creating space under the tent.
Q. When should I choose the Extend?
A. The Extend is suitable if you prioritize entry and exit on rainy or snowy days, extra space around the entrance, and creating space under the tent. Because it has a long rainfly at the back, it offers advantages for those who want to easily handle wet shoes, small items, and camping gear. However, pegging down may be necessary depending on the situation to properly secure the extended portion.
Q. How is it different from the Family size?
A. The Family model is designed for even more space than the Regular or Extend. While the Regular/Extend offer a double bed-like sleeping area, the Family is for those seeking king-size spaciousness. If you want to use it with family or desire ample interior space, the Family is also an option.
Q. Is it suitable for kei cars and small vehicles?
A. It depends on the car model and rack conditions, but it may be easier to consider than a hardshell type in some cases. However, always check the vehicle manufacturer's official roof load capacity, rack weight, and tent body weight. Do not judge solely by appearance; it is crucial to confirm whether the vehicle can safely support it while driving.
Q. What kind of rack is required for installation?
A. A crossbar, roof rack, or flat rack suitable for your vehicle is required. Please check not only the load capacity of the rack but also the official load capacity of the vehicle manufacturer. The position of the bars and the direction the tent opens can also affect ease of use.
Q. How should I handle it during rainy days or the rainy season?
A. It is important not to leave it closed for extended periods if it's wet after use. After rain or during humid seasons, open it on a sunny day to allow air circulation and ensure thorough drying.
Q. What if I'm not sure if it fits my car?
A. It will be easier to confirm if you provide your car model, year, trim, whether you have roof rails, the rack you plan to install, and the height of your usual parking space. If you are unsure, please consult us before purchasing.
