Building on the extremely popular Hawk’s Nest Rooftop Tent range, which has rapidly grown to become one of New Zealand’s most trusted rooftop tents. We’ve been listening, thinking, and tweaking to make camping easier and to provide a solution for every adventure. And we continue to build a tent that can handle whatever you throw at it on the road using only the highest quality materials and manufacturing processes that are made to last.

The Hawk's Nest V2 features a robust and durable full aluminum construction that delivers an aerodynamic, super low-profile rooftop home. It deploys and is ready for camp in under 30 seconds (yes, really!).

With perimeter accessory tracks and an optional Tent Mount Rack that allows you to carry up to 30kg of essential gear on top when deployed, adventuring has never been easier.

Protected by a commercial-grade Dulux® Duralloy® shell coating system, it provides a rooftop home that can handle whatever your adventure throws at it, whether it's sun, rain, salt, sand, or snow.

HAWK'S NEST MODEL GUIDE

This Wide Model Hawk's Nest V2 offers the widest mattress size in the Hawk's Nest range. It's the perfect size for larger 4x4 vehicles such as Defenders, Jeeps, and larger Land Cruisers.

EASY SET-UP AND ADVENTURE

Simply unlock the two easy-to-use lockable latches and let the marine-grade stainless steel gas struts do all the work for you. The Hawk's Nest V2 is fully set up in under 30 seconds, making it one of the easiest rooftop options on the market.

With a movable telescopic ladder and two ladder entry options always available, access is simple regardless of your vehicle or campsite setup.

LOW PROFILE & HIGHLY CUSTOMISABLE

Multiple Tent Mount Rack options allow you to carry all your essentials up top. Plenty of accessories to strap down, secure gear, and mount equipment.

The strong marine-grade stainless steel gas struts allow you to store up to 30kg of gear on top when deployed and camped. This means less time taking gear off and more time enjoying. The modular design doesn’t stop there, with multiple accessory mounting T-tracks around the entire perimeter and on top of the aluminum shell to attach your awnings, camp lights, shoe pockets, and more.

DESIGNED AND PROVEN IN NEW ZEALAND'S RUGGED CONDITIONS

From the harsh Northland sun to the wild winds and rain of the deep South, the Hawk's Nest has been rigorously tested in every environment to create a true four-season rooftop home. Each element has been developed here in New Zealand for New Zealand conditions.

Using our proven X-Canvas, the tent body and rainfly are built tough with Feldon Shelter's trusted NZ-spec build methods. We source gear that works, genuine Japanese-made YKK zippers, European-made COATS thread (the stuff they use on boat sails), NZ-made bungee, and the list goes on. Featuring downward-facing heat-sealed seams throughout, the Hawk's Nest is built to be weatherproof in the harshest conditions, giving you the confidence to push further.

Feldon Shelter’s unique integrated ErgoCell dual-stage mattress comfortably sleeps two people with plenty of room to stretch out. After a long drive, there's nothing like resting on a soft, dry, flat bed. Say goodbye to restless nights spent sleeping on rocks and roots.

MATERIALS & CONSTRUCTION

• Tent Body: UV, mold, and mildew resistant 360gsm Polyester X-Canvas, PU coated for water resistance. Developed and proven for New Zealand's harsh conditions, it is ripstop, waterproof, and weather resistant.
• Stitching & Components: COATS UV-resistant thread (used for yacht sails), genuine YKK zippers, double reinforced and heat-sealed seams, marine-grade 316 stainless steel eyelets, NZ-made bungee (helpful for packing away), and high-quality 150gsm mosquito mesh used throughout.
• Tent Shell: Full aluminum shell with Dulux® Duralloy® powder coat finish, fully TIG-welded 25mm internal frame, lightweight, and extremely durable aluminum honeycomb panels (featuring 10 reinforcing backbones).
• Hardware: Precision CNC machined aluminum latches, ladder brackets, mounting components, accessories, and badges used throughout. Marine-grade 316 stainless steel hardware and industrial-grade rubber sealing methods ensure the entire tent is weatherproof and rustproof, resisting salt, water, rain, and snow.
• Gas Struts: Heavy-duty marine-grade 316 stainless steel gas struts, capable of withstanding winds up to 45 knots.
• Mattress: 60mm dual-layer ErgoCell mattress with high-density comfort foam and an anti-condensation base layer. Features a water-resistant base and side panels, and a machine-washable mattress cover.

ROOF RACK AND VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS

• Roof Rack Requirements: 3-bar roof rack system or a roof platform with a minimum of 6 mounting points on your vehicle's roof.
  • The spacing between the front and rear roof racks (or front and rear mounting points for a roof platform) must be at least 900mm.
• Vehicle Requirements: Both the vehicle and roof rack system must have a minimum dynamic load rating of 100kg or more.

The Hawk's Nest range of rooftop tents is ideal for larger SUVs, 4x4s, and vans.

Important note for Double Cab Utes:

• A load-bearing canopy with an appropriate canopy-mounted roof rack (or platform) is generally required.
• The tent cannot be mounted to both the ute's cab and canopy/tray simultaneously due to the independent flex of each body section.
• The ute's cab itself also typically does not provide sufficient mounting length.
