The Hawk's Nest V2 is built tough with an ultra-durable full-aluminum shell and marine-grade 316 stainless steel components. Protected by a commercial-grade Dulux® Duralloy® shell coating, it provides a rooftop home ready for any adventure – sun, rain, salt, sand, or snow.

Hawk's Nest Model Guide

This low-profile Hawk's Nest V2 model offers the slimmest tent shell in the series. The only compromise is slightly less bedding storage when closed. For a taller shell option, also see the Standard Model.

Simply release the two lockable latches, and the marine-grade stainless steel gas struts do all the work. The Hawk's Nest V2 is fully set up in under 30 seconds, making it one of the easiest rooftop options on the market.

With a portable telescopic ladder and two ladder entry options always available, accessing your tent is easy regardless of your vehicle or campsite setup.

Low Profile and Highly Customizable

Heavy-duty marine-grade stainless steel gas struts allow you to store up to 30kg of gear on top when deployed or while camping. This means less time taking off gear and more time having fun. The modular design doesn't stop there, with multiple accessory mounting T-tracks all around and on top of the aluminum shell, allowing you to attach awnings, camp lights, shoe pockets, and more.

Designed and Proven in Harsh New Zealand Conditions

From the intense sun in Northland to the heavy winds and rain down south, the Hawk's Nest has been rigorously tested in all environments and proven as a true four-season rooftop home. Every element has been developed here in New Zealand for New Zealand conditions.

Featuring Feldon Shelter's trusted NZ-spec X Canvas, the Hawk's Nest tent body and rainfly offer superior durability. The materials used, including Japanese YKK zippers, European COATS thread (the same heavy-duty thread used for boat sails), and NZ-made bungee cords, ensure long-term reliability. Additionally, all seams are inverted and heat-sealed, guaranteeing waterproofness in harsh conditions, giving you confidence for further expeditions and use in all conditions.

The built-in Feldon Shelter exclusive ErgoCell dual-stage mattress provides a comfortable sleeping area for two. After a long drive, you can relax in a soft, dry, flat bed, eliminating the need to sleep on rocks or tree roots.

Materials & Construction

• Tent Body: 360g Polyester X Canvas with PU coating, UV, mold, and mildew resistant for waterproofing, tear resistance, and weatherproofing in harsh New Zealand conditions.
• Stitching & Components: COATS UV-resistant thread (heavy-duty thread used for yacht sails), Japanese YKK zippers, double-reinforced and heat-sealed seams, marine-grade 316 stainless steel eyelets, NZ-made bungee cords (aids in packing away), covered by high-quality 150g insect mesh.
• Tent Shell: Full aluminum shell with Dulux® Duralloy® powder coat finish, combined with a fully TIG-welded 25mm internal frame, utilizing lightweight yet extremely durable aluminum honeycomb panels, reinforced with 10 reinforcing backbones.
• Hardware: Precision CNC machined aluminum latches, ladder brackets, mounting components, accessories, and badges. Marine-grade 316 stainless steel hardware and industrial-grade rubber sealing methods ensure the entire tent is rust-proof and waterproof, capable of handling salt, sun, rain, and snow in any environment.
• Gas Struts: Robust marine-grade 316 stainless steel gas struts capable of withstanding winds up to 45 knots.
• Mattress: 60mm thick dual-layer ErgoCell mattress (high-density, comfortable foam with anti-condensation layer). Water-resistant backing and side panels, with a machine-washable cover.

Roof Rack & Vehicle Requirements

• Roof Rack Requirements: A 3-bar roof rack system or a roof platform with a minimum of 6 mounting points
• The spacing between front and rear roof racks (or front and rear mounting points for a roof platform) must be 900mm or more.
• Vehicle Requirements: Both your vehicle and roof rack system must have a dynamic load rating of at least 100kg.

The Hawk's Nest series of rooftop tents are ideal for large SUVs, 4x4s, and vans.

Important Note for Double Cab Utes:
A suitable roof rack or platform mountable on a canopy is required. It cannot be mounted simultaneously on the vehicle body and canopy/tray. Also, the cab of a ute often does not have sufficient mounting length.
