Building on the hugely popular Hawk's Nest rooftop tent series, which has quickly become one of New Zealand's most trusted rooftop tents, we've refined the details to make camping even easier and provide solutions for any adventure. Using high-quality materials and precision manufacturing processes, we create tents that are built to last.

Hawk's Nest V2 features durable, full aluminum construction for an extremely low-profile, aerodynamic rooftop home that unfolds in under 30 seconds and is ready for camping in no time (seriously!).

With all-around accessory-mountable tracks and an optional rack that can carry up to 30kg of gear on top when unfolded, adventuring is easier than ever.

Tough construction

The Hawk's Nest V2 is constructed with an ultra-durable full aluminum shell and marine-grade 316 stainless steel components, protected by a commercial-grade Dulux® Duralloy® shell coating, providing a rooftop home that can withstand any adventure: sun, rain, salt, sand, snow, and more.

With the latest X-Canvas tent body technology and high-quality materials selected locally and internationally, the Hawk's Nest V2 is proven to be reliable and durable in New Zealand's harsh conditions, and is backed by Feldon Shelter's 2-year 'NZ Proof' warranty.

Hawk's Nest Model Guide

This Hawk's Nest V2 side model has the widest mattress size in the series and is ideal for large 4x4 vehicles such as Defender, Jeep, Land Cruiser, G-Class, Tundra and full-size van models.

Easy setup and adventure

Open two easy-to-use locking latches and deploy marine-grade stainless steel gas struts to support your setup. Hawk's Nest V2 fully sets up in under 30 seconds, making it one of the easiest rooftop options on the market.

With a portable telescoping ladder and two ladder entry options, access is easy regardless of vehicle or campsite placement.

Low profile and highly customizable

A wide range of tent-mounted rack options means you can store all your gear on top, with a wide selection of tie-down, cargo securing and gear mounting accessories.

Heavy-duty marine-grade stainless steel gas struts allow you to store up to 30kg of gear on top during deployment and camping. This means less time transferring gear and more time enjoying the outdoors. Additionally, the aluminum shell features multiple T-tracks around the perimeter and on top for accessory attachment, allowing you to attach items like an awning, camping lights, and shoe pockets.

The interior also comes equipped with insulated panels and a convenient overhead cargo storage system.

Designed and proven for harsh New Zealand conditions

From the intense Northland sun to the harsh winds and rain of the South, Hawk's Nest has been rigorously tested in every environment to ensure it is a true rooftop home for all seasons, with every element developed here in New Zealand for New Zealand conditions.

Crafted from proven X-Canvas, Hawk's Nest's tent body and rainfly are built to Feldon Shelter's proven NZ-spec construction methods for exceptional durability. Other proven materials include genuine YKK zippers made in Japan, European COATS thread (used in boat sails), and NZ-made bungee cords. All seams are undercut and heat-sealed, ensuring waterproof protection even in the harshest conditions, giving you peace of mind when you adventure.

The Feldon Shelter's exclusive ErgoCell dual-stage mattress provides ample sleeping space for two people. There's nothing quite like a soft, dry, flat bed to rest on after a long drive. Sleeping on rocks and roots is a guaranteed way to ensure a good night's sleep.

Materials and Construction

• Tent body : UV, mould and fungus resistant 360g polyester X-canvas with a PU coating for waterproofing. Tear-proof, waterproof and weatherproof for harsh New Zealand conditions.
• Stitching & Components : COATS UV resistant thread (heavy duty thread used in yacht sails), genuine YKK zippers, double reinforced and heat sealed seams, marine-grade 316 stainless steel eyelets, New Zealand made bungee cord (helpful for storage), and covered in 150g high quality mosquito netting mesh.
• Tent Shell : Full aluminium shell with a Dulux® Duralloy® powder coat finish, combined with a fully TIG welded 25mm internal frame made from lightweight yet extremely durable aluminium honeycomb panels, reinforced with 10 stiffening backbones.
• Hardware : Precision CNC machined aluminum latches, ladder brackets, mounting components, accessories, and badges. Marine-grade 316 stainless steel hardware and industrial-grade rubber sealing make the entire tent rust-proof and waterproof, and can withstand any environment, including salt, sun, rain, and snow.
• Gas Struts : Heavy-duty marine-grade 316 stainless steel gas struts that can withstand winds up to 45 knots.
• Mattress : 60mm double-layer ErgoCell mattress (high-density comfort foam with anti-condensation layer), waterproof back and side panels, machine washable cover.

Roof rack and vehicle requirements

• Roof rack requirements : 3-bar roof rack system or roof platform with a minimum of 6 mounting points
• The distance between the front and rear roof racks (or the front and rear mounting points for roof platforms) must be at least 900mm.
• Vehicle Requirements : Both the vehicle and roof rack system must have a minimum dynamic load rating of 100kg.

The Hawk's Nest series rooftop tents are ideal for large SUVs, 4x4s and vans.

Note for double cab utes :
You'll need a roof rack or platform that can be fitted with a suitable canopy - you can't fit both the body and the canopy/tray at the same time, and the cab itself on utes often doesn't have enough length for the installation.
