With all-around accessory mounting tracks and an optional rack that can hold up to 30kg of gear on top when deployed, adventures just got easier.

Hawk's Nest Model Guide

This Hawk's Nest V2 Side model offers the widest mattress size in the series, making it perfect for larger 4x4 vehicles such as Defenders, Jeeps, Land Cruisers, G-Wagens, Tundras, and full-size van models.

Easy Setup & Adventure

Unlock two easy-to-use locking latches, and marine-grade stainless steel gas struts assist in the deployment. The Hawk's Nest V2 is fully set up in under 30 seconds, making it one of the easiest rooftop options on the market.

With a movable telescopic ladder and two ladder entry options, accessing your tent is easy, regardless of your vehicle or campsite setup.

Low Profile & Highly Customizable

With various tent-mount rack options, you can load all your essential gear on top. Plenty of options for securing, stowing, and mounting gear.

Strong marine-grade stainless steel gas struts allow you to store up to 30kg of gear on top when deployed and camped. This means less time moving gear around and more time enjoying your freedom. Additionally, there are multiple accessory T-tracks around the entire aluminum shell and on top, allowing you to attach awnings, camp lights, shoe pockets, and more.

The interior also features insulated panels and a convenient overhead cargo storage system.

Designed & Proven in New Zealand's Harsh Conditions

From the harsh sun of Northland to the biting winds and rain of the deep south, the Hawk’s Nest has been rigorously tested in all environments and proven to be a true four-season rooftop home. Every element has been developed here in NZ for NZ conditions.

Featuring our tried and tested X-canvas, the Hawk's Nest tent body and rainfly are built incredibly strong using Feldon Shelter's proven NZ-spec construction methods. Additionally, durable materials such as genuine Japanese YKK zippers, European COATS thread (used in boat sails), and NZ-made bungee cords are used. All seams are inverted and heat-sealed, ensuring waterproof integrity in harsh conditions, so you can adventure with peace of mind.

A Feldon Shelter exclusive ErgoCell dual-stage mattress is included, providing a comfortable space for two to sleep soundly. After a long drive, there's nothing better than resting on a soft, dry, flat bed. No more sleeping on rocks and roots means a good night's sleep is guaranteed.

Materials & Construction

• Tent Body: 360g polyester X-canvas with PU coating, UV, mold, and mildew resistant for full waterproofing. Ripstop, waterproof, and weather-resistant for New Zealand's harsh conditions.
• Stitching & Components: COATS UV-resistant thread (heavy-duty thread used in yacht sails), genuine YKK zippers, double reinforced and heat-sealed seams, marine-grade 316 stainless steel eyelets, NZ-made bungee cords (helpful for packing away), covered with 150g high-quality mosquito netting.
• Tent Shell: Full aluminum shell with Dulux® Duralloy® powder coat finish, combined with a fully TIG-welded 25mm internal frame, using lightweight yet incredibly durable aluminum honeycomb panels, reinforced with 10 strengthening backbones.
• Hardware: Precision CNC-machined aluminum latches, ladder brackets, mounting components, accessories, and badges. Marine-grade 316 stainless steel hardware and industrial-grade rubber sealing ensure the entire tent is rust-proof and waterproof, capable of handling salt, sun, rain, and snow.
• Gas Struts: Heavy-duty marine-grade 316 stainless steel gas struts, capable of withstanding winds up to 45 knots.
• Mattress: 60mm dual-layer ErgoCell mattress (high-density, comfortable foam with anti-condensation layer). Waterproof backing and side panels, with a machine-washable cover.

Roof Rack & Vehicle Requirements

• Roof Rack Requirements: 3-bar roof rack system, or a roof platform with a minimum of 6 mounting points.
• The spacing between the front and rear roof racks (or front and rear mounting points for a roof platform) must be at least 900mm.
• Vehicle Requirements: Both your vehicle and roof rack system must have a dynamic load rating of at least 100kg.

The Hawk's Nest series of rooftop tents are best suited for large SUVs, 4x4s, and vans.

Note for Double Cab Utes:
Requires a suitable canopy with an attachable roof rack or platform. Cannot be mounted to both the vehicle body and the canopy/tray simultaneously. Also, the cab of a ute often does not have sufficient mounting length.

A. It is suitable for vehicles like the Hiace, Caravan, Delica D:5, V-Class, etc., where you want to utilize the rear hatch and maintain easy access to cargo at the rear. Since it expands sideways, it's a good choice for those who want to keep the rear of their vehicle accessible.

Q. What is the main feature of the Side?
A. Its main feature is that it opens sideways. Compared to models that expand significantly to the rear, the Side makes it easier to maintain access around the rear hatch, making it ideal for those who need to load/unload items or move between the vehicle interior and the tent.

Q. Is it suitable for box-shaped vehicles or minivans?
A. It is often suitable. Especially if you want to use the space under the rear hatch for loading/unloading cargo, changing clothes, or as a workspace during camping, the side-opening Side model can help organize the flow of movement.

Q. How many bars are needed for installation?
A. The Hawk's Nest V2 is generally designed for use with a 3-bar configuration or a roof platform with sufficient mounting points. For the Side model, please also check the compatibility between the opening direction and the rack position.

Q. Will it fit within a 2.1m height restriction?
A. This depends on the height of the vehicle itself, the rack height, and the tent's packed height. While the Side offers convenient sideways opening, the total height after installation varies depending on the vehicle model and rack configuration. If you have height restrictions, we recommend measuring it in person.
