Building on the highly successful Hawk’s Nest range of rooftop tents, which has quickly grown to become one of New Zealand’s most trusted rooftop tents. We have continued to refine and tweak, striving for an even easier camping setup and a solution for every adventure. And we continue to build a tent that can handle anything thrown at it on the road, using only the highest quality materials and manufacturing processes that are built to last.

The Hawk's Nest V2 features a robust and durable full-aluminum construction, creating a highly aerodynamic, super low-profile rooftop home. Ready to set up camp in under 30 seconds (yes, really!).

With all-around accessory tracks and an optional tent-mounted rack allowing you to carry up to 30kg of essential gear on top when deployed, adventuring has never been easier.

The Hawk's Nest V2 is built tough, utilizing an ultra-durable full-aluminum shell and marine-grade 316 stainless steel components. Protected by a commercial-grade Dulux® Duralloy® shell coating system, it ensures a rooftop home that can handle any adventure, be it sun, rain, salt, sand, or snow.

Hawk's Nest Model Guide

This Standard model features a taller shell than the Low-Pro model, allowing ample interior space for bedding storage when closed. It's perfectly sized for medium to large vehicles.

Easy Setup & Adventure

Simply unlatch the two lockable latches, and the marine-grade stainless steel gas struts do all the work. The Hawk's Nest V2 is fully set up in under 30 seconds, making it one of the easiest rooftop options on the market.

A mobile telescopic ladder and two ladder entry options are always available. Providing easy access, regardless of your vehicle or campsite setup.

Low Profile, Highly Customizable

Multiple tent-mounted rack options allow you to carry all your essentials on top. Complete with an abundance of accessories for tie-down, cargo securing, and gear attachment.

The robust marine-grade stainless steel gas struts allow for up to 30kg of gear to be stored on top when deployed and camping. This means less time taking gear off and more time enjoying. But the modular design doesn’t stop there, with multiple accessory mounting t-tracks along the entire perimeter and top of the aluminum shell, allowing you to mount awnings, camp lights, shoe pockets, and more.

Inside, you’ll find fully insulated panels and a handy overhead cargo storage system.

Designed & Proven in Harsh New Zealand Conditions

From the intense sunshine of Northland to the fierce wind and rain of the deep South, the Hawk's Nest has been rigorously tested in every environment to create a truly four-season rooftop home. Every element has been developed here in New Zealand for New Zealand conditions.

Utilizing our proven X-Canvas, the Hawk's Nest tent body and rainfly are built tough with Feldon Shelter's trusted NZ Spec build methods. Focusing on functionality, select materials include Japanese YKK zippers, European COATS thread (the same used for boat sails), and NZ-made bungee. All seams are inverted and heat-sealed, designed to be waterproof in the harshest conditions, giving you the confidence to explore further.

An integrated Feldon Shelter exclusive ErgoCell Dual-Stage mattress provides ample room for two to sleep comfortably. After a long drive, you can relax in a soft, dry, and flat bed. No more nights spent sleeping uncomfortably on rocks and roots.

Materials & Construction

• Tent Body: 360g Polyester X-Canvas, UV, mould & mildew resistant, with PU coating for waterproofing. Designed and proven for tear resistance, waterproofing, and weather durability in harsh NZ conditions.
• Sewing & Components: COATS UV-resistant thread (heavy-duty thread used for yacht sails), Japanese YKK zippers, double-reinforced & heat-sealed seams, marine-grade 316 stainless eyelets, NZ-made bungee cord (useful for storage), high-quality 150g mesh covering the entire tent.
• Tent Shell: Full aluminum shell with a Dulux® Duralloy® powder-coated finish. Fully TIG welded 25mm internal frame with lightweight yet extremely durable aluminum honeycomb panels (featuring 10 reinforcing backbones).
• Hardware: Precision CNC machined aluminum latches, ladder brackets, mounting components, and accessories. Marine-grade 316 stainless steel hardware and industrial-grade rubber sealing ensure the entire tent is waterproof and rust-proof, ready for any environment of salt, sun, rain, or snow.
• Gas Struts: Heavy-duty marine-grade 316 stainless steel gas struts, capable of withstanding 45-knot winds.
• Mattress: 60mm dual-layer ErgoCell mattress (high-density comfort foam with anti-condensation layer). Features a waterproof backing and side panels, with a machine-washable cover.

Roof Rack & Vehicle Requirements

• Roof Rack Requirements: 3-bar roof rack system or a roof platform with at least 6 mounting points.
• The front-to-rear roof rack spacing (or mounting points for a roof platform) must be at least 900mm.
• Vehicle Requirements: Both your vehicle and roof rack system must have a minimum dynamic load rating of 100kg.

The Hawk's Nest series of rooftop tents are ideal for larger SUVs, 4x4s, and vans.

Note for Double Cab Utes: A suitable canopy with a mountable roof rack or platform is required. It cannot be mounted on both the vehicle body and the canopy/tray simultaneously. Also, the cab of a Ute often does not have sufficient mounting length.

Q. What kind of car is the Hawk’s Nest V2 Standard suitable for?
A. It is suitable for SUVs, 4WDs, and vans with ample roof length and rack requirements. While it is taller than the Low-Pro model when stored, it is an easy choice for those who prioritize interior space and ease of use.

Q. What is the difference between Low-Pro and Standard?
A. The main differences are the stored height and interior space. Low-Pro is for those who want to keep the overall height as low as possible, while Standard is for those who prioritize comfort and ease of use over height restrictions.

Q. How many bars are needed for installation?
A. For the Hawk’s Nest V2, it is safest to assume a 3-bar roof rack system or a roof platform with sufficient mounting points. Always check the dynamic load capacity of both your vehicle and the rack.

Q. Will it fit within the 2.1m height limit?
A. This depends on the height of the vehicle itself, the rack height, and the stored tent height. Since the Standard model is taller when stored than the Low-Pro, very careful verification is required if aiming for a 2.1m limit. It will be easier to decide if you also check if 2.2m or 2.3m is acceptable.

Q. What if I'm not sure if it will fit my car?
A. It will be easier to check if you provide your car's make, model, year, trim, planned rack, and the height of your usual parking space. If you are unsure, please consult us before purchasing.
