Building on our hugely popular Hawk's Nest rooftop tent series, which has quickly become one of New Zealand's most trusted rooftop tents, we've thought about and fine-tuned our solutions to make camping easier and more adaptable to any adventure, using the highest quality materials and manufacturing processes to create tents that are built to last and can handle anything the road throws at them.

Hawk's Nest V2's sturdy, durable full aluminum construction creates an extremely low-profile, aerodynamic rooftop home that unfolds and is ready for camping in under 30 seconds (seriously!).

With all-around accessory tracks and an optional tent-mounted rack that can carry up to 30kg of essential gear on top when deployed, enjoying your adventure has never been easier.

Tough construction

The Hawk's Nest V2 is built tough with an ultra-durable full aluminum shell and marine-grade 316 stainless steel components. Protected by our commercial-grade Dulux® Duralloy® shell coating system, it ensures your rooftop home is ready for any adventure: sun, rain, salt, sand, snow, and more.

Hawk's Nest Model Guide

This standard model has a higher shell than the Low-Pro model, providing ample interior space for sleeping gear when closed. Ideal for medium to large vehicles.

Easy setup and adventure

Simply open two easy-to-use lockable latches and let the marine-grade stainless steel gas struts do the rest. Hawk's Nest V2 can be fully installed in under 30 seconds, making it one of the easiest rooftop options on the market.

A portable telescoping ladder and two ladder entry options are always available, ensuring easy access no matter your vehicle or campsite setup.

Low profile and highly customizable

Multiple tent mounting rack options let you carry all your essentials up top, and there's a wide selection of accessories for securing, securing cargo, and attaching gear.

Heavy-duty marine-grade stainless steel gas struts allow you to store up to 30kg of gear on top during deployment and camping. This means you spend less time removing gear and more time having fun. The modular design doesn't end there, with multiple accessory mounting T-tracks around the entire perimeter and top of the aluminum shell for adding awnings, camp lights, shoe pockets, and more.

Inside, you'll find fully insulated panels and a convenient overhead cargo storage system.

Designed and proven for harsh New Zealand conditions

From the intense Northland sun to the fierce winds and rain of the South, Hawk's Nest has been rigorously tested in every environment to create a true four-season rooftop home, with each element developed here in New Zealand to suit New Zealand conditions.

Crafted from our proven X-Canvas, the Hawk's Nest tent body and rainfly are built to Feldon Shelter's trusted NZ-spec construction method. Performance is a priority, with carefully selected materials like Japanese-made YKK zippers, European-made COATS thread (used in boat sails), and NZ-made bungees. All seams are heat-sealed downwards to ensure waterproof performance in the harshest conditions, so you can venture further afield with confidence.

Feldon Shelter's exclusive ErgoCell dual-stage mattress provides ample sleeping space for two, so you can relax on a soft, dry, and flat bed after a long drive. No more nights spent crammed on rocks and roots.

Materials and Construction

• Tent body : UV, mould and fungus resistant 360g polyester x-canvas with a PU waterproofing treatment. Designed and tested to be tear-proof, waterproof and weatherproof in harsh New Zealand conditions.
• Stitching/Components : COATS UV-resistant thread (high-durability thread used in yacht sails), Japanese-made YKK zippers, double-reinforced and heat-sealed seams, marine-grade 316 stainless steel eyelets, NZ-made bungee cord (helpful for storage), high-quality 150g mesh covering the entire tent.
• Tent Shell : Fully powder coated aluminium shell with Dulux® Duralloy® finish. Fully TIG welded 25mm internal frame and lightweight, extremely durable aluminium honeycomb panels with 10 reinforced backbones.
• Hardware : Precision CNC machined aluminum latches, ladder brackets, mounting components, and accessories. Marine-grade 316 stainless steel hardware and industrial-grade rubber sealing make the entire tent waterproof and rust-proof, and it can withstand any environment, whether salt, sun, rain, or snow.
• Gas Struts : Heavy-duty marine-grade 316 stainless steel gas struts that can withstand 45 knots of wind.
• Mattress : 60mm dual-layer ErgoCell mattress with high-density comfort foam and anti-condensation layer, waterproof lining and side panels, and machine-washable cover.

Roof rack and vehicle requirements

• Roof rack requirements : 3-bar roof rack system or roof platform with a minimum of 6 mounting points
• The distance between the front and rear roof racks (or the front and rear mounting points for roof platforms) must be at least 900mm.
• Vehicle Requirements : Both the vehicle and roof rack system must have a minimum dynamic load rating of 100kg.

The Hawk's Nest series rooftop tents are ideal for large SUVs, 4x4s and vans.

Note for double cab utes : you need a roof rack or platform that can be fitted with a suitable canopy. You cannot fit both the body and the canopy/tray at the same time, and the ute cab itself often does not have enough length for the installation.
